WHO WE ARE
WELS-CANADA IS A LUTHERAN CHURCH BODY COMPRISED OF CANADIAN CONGREGATIONS AFFILIATED WITH THE WISCONSIN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN SYNOD (WELS).
WELS IS A DIVERSE GROUP OF 400,000 MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN 1,200 CONGREGATIONS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA, WITH MISSIONS IN 40 FOREIGN COUNTRIES.
WE ARE UNITED HOWEVER, IN A COMMON CALLING – SHARING CHRIST’S LOVE WITH THE WORLD.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe there is something more to life; that God is out there, and that he wants to have a relationship with us.
We believe that the Bible introduces us to God and that it is God’s inspired Word.
We believe that there is One God – Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe that the Father created our universe in perfection, but that sin ruined it.
-
We believe that Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life in our place and died and rose again. Even though he went back to heaven to be with the Father, he still watches over us today.
-
We believe that the Holy Spirit comes to us through the Bible and Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper) to strengthen our faith and renew our lives.
We believe that by believing in Jesus as our Saviour, all our sins are washed away and we have the promise of eternal life.
We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace! It is free and there is nothing we need do to earn it.
We believe that God gives our lives purpose, peace, fulfillment, joy, understanding and wisdom.
As a result, we want to share the blessings that our God and Saviour gives us – with our community and the world. More specifically we want to connect your family with our family.
God's blessings on your day!
